Why SafeMeet exists
Someone we were close to — a friend of a friend — was supposed to check in with the people who cared about her. The message never came. Everyone assumed she was fine and went to sleep. By the time anyone realized something was wrong, hours had already passed, and help arrived far too late.
We won't share more than that, out of respect. But that night changed how we think about safety. So much of how we look out for each other still rests on a fragile promise — "text me when you get home" — and on someone, somewhere, remembering to worry at exactly the right moment.
SafeMeet exists so that no one has to rely on someone else remembering. It keeps the promise automatically — and if you can't, it speaks up for you.
Safety that waits for you to be safe
Most safety apps are panic buttons. They assume that in a dangerous moment you'll have the time, the focus, and the free hands to unlock your phone and press something. Real emergencies rarely give you that.
SafeMeet flips it. Instead of waiting for you to call for help, it waits for you to confirm you're safe. Miss a check-in, and it assumes you need help and alerts the people you chose — with your live location, automatically.
Why most of it is free
We made the core of SafeMeet free on purpose — check-ins, Follow Me Home, and emergency alerts. Safety shouldn't sit behind a paywall, and protecting women, men, children, and anyone who just wants one more layer of security matters more to us than revenue.
Running this isn't cheap, and so far it's been funded out of our own pocket. A small premium tier covers the features that cost us the most — SMS alerts, real-time link tracking, and cloud time. For about the price of a coffee, you give yourself a better chance of getting help fast. That's the whole trade.
If we can't prevent it, we help you fight back
Our first goal is always prevention. But if the worst still happens, SafeMeet does what it can to preserve a clear, time-stamped record of your session — the kind of evidence that can help you get answers, and justice, faster. You stay in control of it, and you choose what to share.
What we will never do
Unlike a lot of "trust and safety" products, we don't ask you to upload your ID or hand over documents to prove who you are. We believe the less sensitive data a safety app holds, the safer you actually are — because data that's never collected can never be breached or leaked. We keep what we need to protect you, and nothing more.
- Your location is yours. We never sell it to advertisers, and we don't track you when the app is off.
- No data stockpiles. Sensitive details are encrypted, and we collect as little as possible — no ID checks, no selling, no profiling.
- Safety isn't a luxury. The features that save lives stay free; premium only covers the costs we actually pay.
- Real alerts. SafeMeet can break through Silent Mode and Do Not Disturb when an emergency demands it.
